About this granth
Sri Ramakrishna Vachanamrita (श्री रामकृष्ण वचनामृत) is the Hindi version of the Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita, the record of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa's conversations kept by his householder disciple Mahendranath Gupta, who wrote as 'M'. Gupta noted the talks at Dakshineswar and Calcutta between 1882 and 1886 in his diary, with dates, which gives the work the feel of an eyewitness account.
This first part is the translation by the Hindi poet Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala'. It is arranged in numbered sections, each tied to a date such as 11 March, 16 October or 28 October 1882, and covers Ramakrishna's teaching on God-realisation, devotion and knowledge, spiritual life for householders, maya and the harmony of religions, told through his everyday parables. A foreword and introduction open the volume.
The copy comes from the library of Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar, and has about 711 pages.
