प्रस्तारः खण्डमेरुश्च नष्टोद्दिष्ट प्रबोधकः ।
स्वरसाधारणं जातिसाधारणमतः परम् ॥ १० ॥
काकल्यन्तरयोः सम्यक् प्रयोगो वर्णलक्षणम् ।
त्रिषष्टिरप्यलङ्कारास्त्रयोदशविधं ततः ।
जातिग्रहांशादिभेदान् वक्ष्यामिच्चयथाक्रमम् ॥ ११ ॥
(7—11) Elements that go to make the Raga:—
(1) Voice (2) Production of sound (3) The 3 octaves,
of human voice (4) The 7 pure swaras or notes (5) The
12 modified notes (6) The 4 kinds of instruments (7) The
family, caste, colour, island, The Sage, The Deity, the
meter and practical application of the several notes.
(8) The srutis or varied pitches and their kinds in parti-
cular notes, (9) the Gramas or organic groups of svarars
(10) the moorchhanas or parent curves of ragas (11) The
tanas or melodic phrases regular and irregular (12) per-
mutations and combinations of notes (13) calculated by
conic groups (14) Detecting the order of combinations (15)
modified swaras formed by elements of more than one
svara. (16) Combined parent Ragas. (17) the proper use
of C flat and F flat known as Kakali and Antara (18)
Kinds of musical effort, (varnas) and their varied forms
(Alankaras) 63 and 13 in number. (19) melodic elements
of parent ragas or Jatis, (viz) Graha, Amsa etc.

(1) குரல் (2) நாதஉற்பத்தி (3) சரீரத்தில் உண்டாகும்
மூன்று ஸ்தாயிகள் (4) சுத்த ஸ்வரங்கள் 7 (5) விக்ருத ஸ்வ
ரங்கள் 12 (6) நான்கு வித வாத்யங்கள் (7) ஸ்வரங்களின்
குலம், சாதி, நிறம், தீவு, ரிஷி, தேவதை, சந்தம், பிரயோகங்கள்,
(8) சுருதிகளும் அவை ஸ்வரங்களில் ஒலிக்கும் விவரமும் (9)
கிராமங்கள் அல்லது ஸ்வரங்களின் குடும்பங்கள் போன்ற தொகு
திகள் (10) மூர்ச்சனைகள் அல்லது ராகங்களின் ஆதாரச் சஞ்
