The following four lines (132-135), left out by the Codex Archetypus,
appear to be necessary between lines 131 and 136. These are supplied
by J.
132. J. जयन्तैव for जयन्तस्य ।
135. J. भ्रंशश्चैक, I. भ्रंशस्यैक ।
137. (1) A. F. पूर्व । The usual form should be पूष्णः । The sun god
पूषन् is well known. (2) I. नी for ग्नि, suggested by J.
A. F. repeat this line.
138. (1) I. भुङ्गराजस्यैव यानस्य पदे चैकस्य पश्चिमे ।
(2) The form विघातस्य in this and the following line will
further illustrate the barbarous Sanskrit.
The Codex Archetypus leaves out the next three lines, 139-141,
which have been preserved by all other Mss. and are necessary here.
143. I. गर्भ for गगन, suggested by J. A. C. F.
144. (1) I. सुग्रीवं च । (2) J. adds तु before चोत्तरे ।
145. A. F. omit this line. I. leaves out the second half of this
line, three following lines (146, 147, 148) and the first half of line 149,
which it joins with line 145 as its second half.
147. A. C. F. शोषस्यैक । The usual form is शेष ; not शोष, see line
105.
148. A. C. F. शोषस्यैव, apparently for शेषस्यैव ।
149. A. C. F. पूर्वकं ।
150. (1) I. मुख, but मुख्य in line 151 ; the emendation is suggested
by J. and the other Mss. (2) J. तु for च ।
151. A. F. चोत्तरे for पूर्वके ।
152. J. सोमेशस्यतु, A. F. सोमवस्यतु ।
153. I. चमिति for चदितेः ।
154. I. चतोमि for चदितौ ।
Line 75 ( पतत्पदस्थितानां सर्वदेवानां रूपमुच्यते ) should be read bet-
ween lines 154 and 155. The points of great importance to note
are :—(i) only the 8th and 9th plans are described in detail and (ii)
the Brihat-Saṁhitā, the Mayamata and other treatises dealing with
