( निबन्धनं ) यस्याः सा, तया which was fastened then for
the first time Adj of तया—मौञ्ज्या । निबद्धं—( नि+
√बन्ध्+क्त) tied रशनागुणास्पदम्। रशना—मेखला a girdle.
रशनागुणाः—रशनायाः गुणाः the cord of a girdle आस्पदं—
स्थानं place रशनागुणस्य आस्पदं the place for the cord
of a girdle i e, the waist, the thigh or the hip सरागं—
रागेण सह (लोहितं) red अकारि—कृतम् was made. Passive
Aorist of √कृ to do
The waist-band being made of munja grass was
very rough and, moreover, it was worn by Parvati
for the first time, hence her waist was made red
by it
CHANGE OF VOICE:—तया वनाय प्रतिक्षणं कृतरोमविक्रिया
त्रिगुणा या मौञ्जी बभ्रे, तत्पूर्वनिबद्धा सा अस्याः रशनागुणास्पदं
सरागं अकार्षीत् ॥ १० ॥
HINDI TRANSLATION :—उसने वन के निमित्त प्रतिक्षण
में रोमाञ्चित करने वाली, तीन लड़ की, मूंज की बनी जिस
मेखला को धारण किया, तभी पहिली बार बाँधी हुई,
उसने उसकी मेखला बाँधने की जगह (कमर) को लाल कर
दिया ॥ १० ॥
ENGLISH TRANSLATION :—Her waist (lit the place
for the cord of a girdle was made red by the girdle of
Munja grass, comprising three threads, which was
fastened then for the first time, which she wore for
her penance (and) which made her hair stand erect
every moment 10.
