तस्मात् परमार्थतः ( परमार्थ + तसिल् ) in reality , truly ;
correctly परमार्थ means the highest sense or truth.
तसिल् is added in the sense of the Ablative by
‘पञ्चम्यास्तसिल्’ पा० ५ ३ ७ । न वेत्सि—न जानासि thou
knowest not This is a refutation of the ascetic’s
assertion ‘विदितो महेश्वरः’ in verse 65 आत्थ—ब्रवीषि
thou sayest Present tense, second pers sing of √ ब्र
‘to speak’ ब्रू is replaced by आह and सिप् the
termination by थल् । See notes on आह in verse 56
Now, Parvatı supports this charge by means of a
general statement which means that the dull-minded
find fault with the life of the great, which has some-
thing unusual about it and the purpose of which can
not be easily understood मन्दाः—मूढाः idiots , dull-witted
‘मूढाल्पापटुनिर्भाग्या मन्दा’ इत्यमरः । अलोकसामान्यम्—न
लोकानां लोकेषु वा सामान्यं ( साधारण ) इति अलोकसामान्यम्
or, न विद्यते लोके सामान्यं यस्य तत् which is not in com-
mon with that of other people, i e which has some-
thing extraordinary about it अचिन्त्यहेतुकम्—( न + √
चिन्त् + यत् = अचिन्त्यं ) चिन्तयितुं योग्यं चिन्त्यं ; न चिन्त्य
अचिन्त्यं ( विचारयितुमशक्यम् ) which can not be grasped
अचिन्त्यः हेतुः ( कारणं ) यस्य तत् अचिन्त्यहेतुकम् the motive
of which can not be understood Parvati means to say
that it was not easy for the Brahmacharin to know
as to why Shiva lived in nudity and did other similar
things कप् is added to हेतु because it is at the end
