Passive Participle, used in the sense of the present
tense, of the Desiderative of √ आप् । आ of √ आप् is
changed to ई before सन् suffix by ' आप् ज्ञप्यृधामीत् '
पा० ७ ४ ५५ । In तव, Genitive case is used because the
past passive participle has been used in the sense
of the present tense. Cf ' कस्य च वर्त्तमाने ' पा०
२ ३ ६७ । कः अपि—अविज्ञातनामधेयः, यः कोपि भवेत्
whosoever he may be. स्थिरः—अतिकठिनहृदयः firm ; not
easily moved ; hard अहो—आश्चर्यं इदम् it is strange ;
alas चिराय—बहोः कालात् since long. It is an indeclin-
able word and not the Dative sing. of चिर । Cf.
' चिराय चिररात्राय चिरस्याद्याश्चिरार्थकाः ' इत्यमरः । कर्णोत्प-
लशून्यताम्—कर्णयोः उत्पलाभ्यां (कर्णावतंसीकृताभ्यां कमलाभ्यां)
शून्य (रहितः) कर्णोत्पलशून्यः, तस्य भावः कर्णोत्पलशून्यता,
ताम् Or, कर्णालङ्कारभूतमुत्पलं तेन शून्य. कर्णोत्पलशून्यस्तस्य
भाव कर्णोत्पलशून्यता, ताम् from which the ear-lotus has
been absent. At times flowers are used particularly
by women living in hermitages, as ornaments. Par-
vati also did so, but since her assuming the life of an
ascetic she gave up the practice. गते—Loc. sing. of
गत past part. Adj. of कपोलदेशे over which the ear-lotus
used to hang. कपोलदेशे—कपोल एव देशः कपोलदेशः,
तस्मिन् over her cheeks. श्लथजम्बिनीः—श्लथाश्च ताः
लम्बिन्यश्च श्लथलम्बिनीः, ताः loose or untied and
(or, therefore hanging लम्बिनीः (√लम्ब्+णिनिः+
ङीप्) is in Acc. plu., declined like नदी । Some books
