( गङ्गा + अण् ) गङ्गाया इमानि गाङ्गानि, तैः of the Ganges
तथा—तेन प्रकारेण in that way ; so much. पावितः—(√पू
to purify + क्त ) Passive Past Participle. पवित्रीकृतः sanc-
tified अनाविलैः—न आविलैः अनाविलैः not dirty , pure.
Adjective of त्वदीयैः चरितैः It implies that Parvati's
conduct is purer and more sanctifying than the waters
of the Ganges The suggested figure of speech is व्यति-
रेक, in which the standard of comparison is excelled
by the thing compared त्वदीयैः—( युष्मद् + छ् —ईय् ) तव
इमानि त्वदीयानि, तैः by your own The suffix छ् is
added to युष्मद् by ‘वृद्धाच्छः’ पा० ४.२.११४। and युष्म
of युष्मद् is changed to त्व by ‘प्रत्ययोत्तरपदयोश्च’ पा०
७२.९८। चरितैः—acts सान्वयः—अन्वयेन ( कुटुम्बेन ) सह
इति सान्वयः with his family This verse contains a
glowing tribute from Shiva for the righteous life of
Parvati. 37.
CHANGE OF VOICE:—एतं महीधरं विकीर्णसप्तर्षिबलि-
प्रहासीनि दिवः च्युतानि गाङ्गानि सलिलानि तथा न पूतवन्ति,
यथा अनाविलानि त्वदीयानि चरितानि सान्वयं ( पूतवन्ति )॥३७॥
HINDI TRANSLATION:—यह (हिमालय) पहाड़ सप्तर्षियों
के द्वारा दिये हुए पुष्पों के उपहार से चमकते हुए, आकाश से
गिरे हुए गङ्गा के पानी से उतना पवित्र न हुआ था, जितना तुम्हारे
पवित्र आचरण ने इसे सकुदुम्ब पवित्र कर दिया है ॥ ३७ ॥
