PREFACE
The Yogatārāvalī deals with some practices of both Haṭha-
yoga and Rājayoga. Though the work is in 29 verses, yet almost
all important practices are mentioned in it. In a few places
necessary details have also been given in brief.
A synopsis of these verses is given below :
( Verse 1 ) Obeisance to Haṭhayoga.
(2) The nādānusandhāna concentration is said to be the
highest of all layas ( obsorption ).
(3) Divine experience to be realized by the practitioner
whose nerves have been purified.
(4) The dissolution of the mind into the feet of Viṣṇu by
means of the nādānusandhāna ( listening to the inner sound ).
(5) Efficacy of the three bandhas, namely Jālandhara,
Uddiyāna and Mūla.
(6) The rise of Kuṇḍalī ( Coiled Energy ) and its entering
the Suṣumnā nerve.
(7) Drinking of nector issuing from the moon heated by the
fire coming out from the Suṣumnā nerve.
(8) Practice of Kevala-kumbhaka ( the stoppage of breath
called Kevala ) which checks the flow of external knowledge.
