15. Grammatically it is necessary to read either गन्ध in the accusa-
tive plural or स्पृश् in the instrumental plural, the former being
certainly better. रस would be more grammatical than रसा ।
16. (1) As the line stands, परीक्ष्य, without any connection with a
nominative, is grammatically a bad form.
(2) I. सुभूमौ ।
17. B. भूतिः रसा; the second असौ is apparently for एभिः or आभिः ।
19. I. J. तदुम्बर; J. प्रणव ।
21. (1) I. J. विस्तारः । (2) I. J. अष्टा; if the reading विस्तारः be preserved,
we must read समाधिक्यः, but this construction does not bear a satisfactory
meaning. We would read विस्तारादष्टसमाधिक्यं दैर्ध्यं ; compare line 24 below.
J. leaves out the lines 19-21, and B. 19-22.
22. I J. आदिक; the emendation is suggested by the other Mss.
compare line 20 above.
23. महि is not intended to be read in the neuter because the
adjective सम्यक्प्रदा is read in the feminine ; but the other adjectives are
read in the neuter.
24. (1) I. मादिकायामपितयेत् । (2) A. युक्त । It should be noticed that
the rules of grammar are outrageously violated in this line.
25. B. अनवद्यरसा ।
26. (1) I. पखे । (2) A. महि for मही. The neuter adjectives qualifying
feminine noun in lines 25, 26 as in 21—24, if not in 18—20 and 27-29,
should be noticed.
27. J. मायतमाधिकम् ।
28. I. रविम् for रसम् ।
29. I. दस्तु for वस्तु ।
30. This line seems to be out of place here.
34. (1) I. J. विजां for विशां; the mistake seems due to the careless-
ness of the copyists.
(2) I. शूद्रैः for शूद्राणां seems to have been prompted by the
desire of preserving the metre.
(3) B. प्रागुक्तञ्चशोभयेत्
