rouser, i e, the Sun 'भानुर्हंसः सहस्रांशुस्तपनः सविता
रविः' इत्यमरः । गभस्तिभि. - किरणैः with the rays 'किर-
णोस्रमयूखांशुगभस्तिघृणिरश्मयः' इत्यमरः । अभितप्त-(अभि

• √तप् + क्तः) आभिमुख्येन तप्तं scorched तदीयं-(तत् +
  छः-ईय् ) तस्याः इदं तदीयम् of her, i e, of Parvati दधौ
  -(√धा + लिट् ) धारयामास put on : bore The beautiful
  face of Parvati being reddened by the heat of the
  sun looked like a red lotus श्यामिकया-कालिम्ना by
  darkness. Instru of श्यामिका। अपाङ्गयोः-नेत्रप्रान्तयोः
  of the outer corners of the eyes दीर्घयोः, because long
  corners of eyes are one of the marks of beauty. शनैः
  शनैः- by and by A sudden darkness would have
  marred the beauty of the face पदं कृतम् - i e, made
  appearance. The word केवलं indicates that no other
  part of the face, except the long corners of the eyes,
  was darkened by the heat of the Sun
  CHANGE OF VOICE - सवितुः गभस्तिभिस्तथा अभितप्तेन
  तदीयेन मुखेन कमलश्रीः दधे, श्यामिका केवलं अस्य दीर्घयोः
  अपाङ्गयोः शनैः शनैः पदं कृतवती ॥ २१ ॥
  HINDI TRANSLATION - सूर्य की किरणों से इस प्रकार
  अत्यधिक तपाया हुआ उसका चेहरा कमल की तरह
  सुन्दर हो गया; (और सूर्य की गर्मी से हुई) कालिमा से
  केवल उसकी आँखों के लम्बे कौए ही धीरे धीरे काले हो
  गये ॥ २१ ॥
