the former the whole त्रिनेत्रवक्षःसुलभं is one compound
चिताभस्मरजः—चितायाः भस्म एव रज the ashes of the
funeral pyres (which are applied to his body by
Shiva) Cf आलेपो भसितं quoted in notes on verse 65
हरिचन्दनास्पदे—हरे. विष्णोरिन्द्रस्य वा चन्दनं हरिचन्दनं, तस्य
आस्पदं तस्मिन् हरिचन्दनास्पदे a place for sandal-wood paste.
‘हरिचन्दनमस्त्री स्यात् त्रिदशानां महीरुहे । नपुंसकं तु गोशीर्षे
ज्योत्स्नाकुङ्कुमयोरपि' इति मेदिनी । स्तनद्वये—स्तनयोः (कुचयोः)
द्वयं (युगलं) स्तनद्वयं, तस्मिन् on your breasts पद—
स्थानं place According to Mallinátha the latter half of
the verse is to be construed as—यत् हरिचन्दनास्पदे
अस्मिन् स्तनद्वये चिताभस्मरजः पदं करिष्यति i e, because
the powder of the ashes of funeral pyres will make its
abode in the pair of your breasts which have hitherto
been a place for sandal-wood paste Though the
construction is different the sense remains the
same 69.
CHANGE OF VOICE :—(त्वयैव) उच्यतां, अतः परं अयुक्त-
रूपं किम् यत् त्रिनेत्रवक्षः सुलभेन चिताभस्मरजसा तव अपि
हरिचन्दनास्पदे अस्मिन् स्तनद्वये पदं करिष्यते ॥ ६६ ॥
HINDI TRANSLATION :—(तुम ही) बताओ, इससे बढ़-
कर और अनुचित क्या हो सकता है कि तीन नेत्रों वाले (शिव
जी) की छाती पर लगी हुई चिता की राख तुम्हारे भी इन दोनों
स्तनों पर, जो कि चन्दन के स्थान हैं, जगह बना लेगी ॥ ६६ ॥
