शेषो यासां ता त्रिभागाः, तासु in the nights of which

taken in the sense of the ordinal तृतीय, just as शत
and सहस्र are ordinals in the words शतांशः (=शतत-
मांशः) and सहस्रांशः (=सहस्रतमांशः) । Parvati could
not get sound sleep during the whole of night and
she was generally awakened by her thoughts about
Shiva during the last part of the night. निमील्य—
(नि+√मील् to close+ल्यप्) having shut क्षणं नेत्रे
निमील्य—i e., having slept for a little while. When
preceded by उत्, √मील् means 'to open', e. g.,
उन्मीलन। सहसा—अकस्मात् all of a sudden. नीलकण्ठ—
नील कण्ठो यस्य स नीलकण्ठ, तस्य संबोधने O thou of
azure neck; blue-necked Shiva is called Nīlakantha
because his neck had become black by swallowing
the poison produced at the churning of the ocean
‘क्व व्रजसि’—'where art thou going?' such were
the cries uttered by Parvati in the subconscious
state of her mind. अलक्ष्यवाक्—अविद्यमानं लक्ष्यं यस्याः
सा अलक्ष्या (Adj of वाक्) ; अलक्ष्या वाग् यस्या. सा
