sense of 'apparently' i. e., although not really
fatigued he showed that he took rest. Shiva, in order
to avoid cognizance, had to act as an ordinary man.
ऋजुना—सरलेन simple ; not betraying any particular
inner feeling. अनुज्झितक्रमः—( न + √उज्झू + क्तः ) न
(त्यक्तः) क्रमः (उचिताचारः) येन सः who did not give
up propriety. क्रम् means the regular order or course.
प्रचकमे—( प्र + √क्रम् + लिट् ) began √क्रम् when not
preceded by a preposition is conjugated in both the
Padas, but it is used in Atmanepadi when preceded
by प्र and उप and the sense is of 'beginning' by
'प्रोपाभ्यां समर्थाभ्याम्' पा० १.३४२ । प्रक्रामति means
'he goes' and उपक्रामति 'he comes near.' 32.
Change of Voice :—तेन विधिप्रयुक्तां सत्क्रियां परिगृह्य
क्षणं परिश्रमं विनीय च नाम उमां ऋजुना एव चक्षुषा पश्यता
अनुज्झितक्रमेण वक्तुं प्रचकमे ॥ ३२ ॥
Hindi Translation :—उसने यथाविधि की हुई सेवा
को स्वीकार कर तथा क्षण भर के लिये थकावट को दूर सा कर
के, पार्वती की ओर सीधीसादी दृष्टि से ही देखते हुए,
(व्यवहार के) उचित मार्ग को न छोड़ते हुए, कहना प्रारम्भ
किया ॥ ३२ ॥
English Translation :—Having accepted the wor-
ship offered according to proper rites, and having
apparently eased his fatigue for a moment, he, looking
at Uma with quite simple eyes and without giving up
propriety, began to speak 32
