(१५) अस्थानस्थसमासं यथा
अद्यापि स्तनशैलदुर्गविषमे सीमन्तिनीनां हृदि
स्थातुं वाञ्छति मान एष धिगिति क्रोधादिवालोहितः ।
[As it stands, the expression means 'not some one,—but all—
removed the garland.']
Another example of the same—
Lagnaḥ kelikachagrahashlathajaṭālambena nidrāntare
Mudrāṅkaḥ śitikandharenduśakalenāntaḥkapolasthalam
Pārvatyā nakhalakṣmaśaṅkitasakhīnarmasmitahrītayā
Pronmṛṣṭaḥ karapallavena kuṭilātāmrachchhaviḥ pātu vaḥ.
‘May the curved red mark made on Pārvatī’s cheek
by Shiva’s moon-digit, while she slept on his matted
locks, tired during dalliance, protect you !—the marks
wiped off by her tender hands, when she was abashed
by the smiles of her companion who suspected the mark
to be of nails.’
The epithet ‘kuṭilātāmrachchhaviḥ’ (‘red and curved’)
should have been placed before the term ‘nakhalakṣma etc.’
[As it is the ‘curvature and redness’ that supply the grounds for
the companion’s suspicion.]
(15) The following is an example of the ‘Misplaced
Compound’—
‘Adyāpi stanashailadurgaviṣame sīmantinīnāṁ hṛdi
Sthātuṁ vāñchhati māna eṣa dhigiti krodhādivālohitaḥ
