Begum Zinat Mahal was the youngest and
the most favourite of the wives of Emperor
Bahadur Shah and, as such, had great influence
over him. Being disappointed in getting esta-
blished her son's claim to the throne of Delhi
she became highly resentful towards the British.
It was she, in fact, who first enthusiastically
welcomed the idea of the Revolution and urged
the Emperor to join it whole-heartedly. When
Bahadur Shah was transported to Burma she
accompanied him there and shared his fate.
