Copyright & takedown

How SarvaKosh handles copyright, and how to ask us to remove a work.

What we publish

SarvaKosh publishes scans and text of Indic works, chiefly works in the public domain in India. In India, copyright generally lasts for the author's lifetime plus 60 years, and a translation, commentary or edited edition has its own copyright. Where we have checked a book, its page shows its rights status.

If your work appears here

If you own the copyright in a work shown on SarvaKosh, or act for the owner, and did not give permission, send us a notice with the form below. We acknowledge every notice and disable access to the pages it names while we review it, normally within 36 hours.

What to include

  • Your name and contact details, and whether you are the owner or act for the owner.
  • The work you hold rights in, and how you hold them (for example as author, translator or publisher).
  • The SarvaKosh pages that use it — a book link is enough for the whole book.
  • A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised, and your typed name as a signature.

If a page was removed by mistake

If a book was taken down after a notice and you believe the work is in the public domain or used with permission, write to us with the details and we will review it again.
